    Hi All:
Just had a client bring me a drive with mts files from his Sony Camera. I tries compressor and steamclip, but neither recognize these files for conversion. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Roy

Unless you have the whole MXF wrapper with the complete folder structure you’ll have to ClipWrap to transcode the media. It would be really helpful if you said exactly what camera this came from. Sony makes thousands that shoot all sorts of different formats.

    All the best,

Ha, a guy just did the same to me earlier this week. You have to convert them to your desired format using conversion software. MPEG Streamclip isn’t able to do it. I don’t have the software and didn’t feel like buying it, so I gave him back the drive and he converted them to MPEG2s and when i got them back I converted them to Apple ProRes 422 using Mpeg Streamclip.

    Hey Roy,

I’ve had success using a few programs to convert MTS files – the fastest but sometimes riddled with clips that won’t convert is using Toast Titanium. I’ve also witnessed Adobe Media Encoder converting MTS files, but it seemed to take much longer.

    Hope this helps!
