.mpg vs. m2v in DVD Architect 5
Hello,
I am needing to take final projects, rendered from 2 different editing systems and combine them in a menu based DVD in Sony DVD Architect. The first has been rendered as a MPEG-2 using Sony Vegas 8.0. No problems whatsoever. The second is rendered as an MPEG-2 as well, using Episode out of Final Cut Pro. Here in lies the problem.
Architect accepts both files and their associated ac3 audio files but when preparing there is an error saying that there is missing information in the MPEG file.
Now, my question is…does Episode automatically create an .m2v file the way Vegas does a .mpg? Is there a reason that Architect won’t accept .m2v files? And if not, are they trying to correct this?
My workaround has been to render a high quality .mov out of Final Cut, import into Vegas > Render out of Vegas as a .mpg and use the new file without issue. However this seems like an unnecessary step and I assume I am loosing quality with the extras encoding. Any ideas?
