    Hi,

I have made a 15′ TVC for a client that i need to upload to the broadcast servers and their requirements are:

“The file should be an MPEG-2 as per the following:

    Resolution: 720 x 576
    Video Bitrate: 15 Mbit/s
    Frame Rate: 25fps (50 Hz)
Aspect: 16:9 Full Height Anamorphic (4:3 Graphic safe)
Audio: MPEG Layer 2, 48kHz, Stereo
    Audio Bitrate: 224 kbit/s
    Audio Reference Level: -20 db

Audio and video must be provided in the one file, we can not accept them as separate components.”

This is all straight forward enough.

However my project is 1920*1080 and when i send to compressor and select an mpeg2 preset is tells me the file extension will be m2v or m2ts. I need the extension to be mpg.

I have created a new preset and specified the settings above, but the frame size ends up 720*404. wtf?!! it looks ok! I have tried it a few times and i keep getting this weird frame size.

Im on FCP HD studio 7. Mac pro, 8GbRAM, 2xquad core, snow leopard…

    thanks for your help…

    Andrew.

ps, the requirements state it must have .mpg extension.

    Hi Andrew,

2 things what colour spacing is the mpeg -422 or 420, 420 can be made in compressor and is a DVD standard – 422 can’t be made in compressor

Secondly never trust QuickTime for frame height download video spec a free app – drag the mpg in and all of you results are made for you

I work at Adstream – uk and europes leaders in commercial delivery and I recieve and distribute to over 700 broadcasters every day

Where are you positioned and with company are you using ?

Hey Craig, thanks for your reply.

I am based in Auckland, NZ. And am delivering to different TV networks via dubsat.

I tried a few things and Quiktime player still tells me the frame size is 720*404. I used Mpeg streamclip to view it and it tells me its 720*576. So i just sent it off and am hoping its good.

Kinda funny that a fairly standard PAL setting can render a clip at 720×404.

I had a google at that video spec app, but couldn’t find it, do you have a link?

    Cheers!
