Hello, I have two computers, one for editing & an older one for internet, DVD labels, etc. On my editing computer (which I’ve been using for about 3 years) when I render an mpeg4 I get glitches or quick horizontal breaks in the video (not throughout, just in some parts). This has not always occurred on this computer. When I render the same files on my other (older) computer the video comes out fine. The problem computer is currently running Vegas 9e 32 bit while the computer that renders ok is running Vegas 9c 32 bit. I have tried Vegas 7 and Vegas9c on the problem computer to no avail. As far as I can tell both computers are set up similarly and the mpeg4 render settings are the same. As a side note if I render to avi or mpeg2 on the problem computer the video comes out fine. Sorry to be so wordy, but this is driving me crazy because so much of my work needs to be mpeg4 for Youtube upload. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Dave P.

Can you show a screenshot or short video of the issue?

Steve, your question may have solved my problem. I was going to put the link to a video I have on Youtube here for you to look at. When I was viewing the video on Youtube it wasn’t having the above mentioned problem. That got me to thinking (something I am sometimes capable of doing). To make a long story short, when I view the mpeg4 video in Quicktime I have the problem. When I view it in Windows Media player I have no problem. It seems as if the problem may lie in viewing these videos in Quicktime.

    Thanks

That’s easy, Quicktime Player does not support alpha channel.

Steve, please excuse my ignorance, but what does that mean exactly relating to playing an mpeg4?

    Thanks

    Whoops, wrong thread.
    Just ignore my previous reply.

But I would still like to see the problem because I think I may have seen the same thing.
