    MPEG4 from Sorenson for progressive download

    I’m compressing SD video in Sorenson Squeeze 5 for delivery via progressive download on an HTTP server. The current setting is MPEG-4, Web, Download, MPEG4, FastStart_512K. Instead of progressive download, the file is downloading completely before starting to play.

    Is there anything wrong with this setting?

    Daniel,

    Thanks for your quick reply. I read through the information in the link regarding the movie atom at the beginning of the file. I assumed that if I chose the FastStart option in Sorenson Squeeze 5, the file would be correctly set up for progressive download. Is that right?

    I’ll import the file into Quicktime Pro and export as self contained to see if that will fix the problem. Are there any settings needed on the server side?
