I have to deliver a program to a television network and they have given me these specs. Compressor doesn’t allow me to export mpeg2 with 422 chroma. Not sure the best way to go.

[ryan early] “Video Compression Mpeg 2 4:2:2 Profile @ Main Level”
FC handle this only when exporting IMX or XDCAM HD 422.
However those are “locked-formats” so you can not tweak data-rate, GOPs structure, etc.
I think you need a more pro tool like Episode or so.

Up until recently I thought the same thing, but Jeremy Garchow posted this:

I saw that post too, it must only be in the latest version of compressor – I have compressor 3.0.5 which doesn’t have that option for 422 export of mpeg2.

Yes, it came in Compressor 3.5 and FCS3.

    Hi Guys,

Only Episode and Adobe Media Encoder are the best on the MAC PLATFORM for 4:2:2 Chroma …

10-15 VBR in Long GOP seems quiet small for TV Delivery, as is is PAL and England normally accepts only 50 iFrame 4:2:2 I know no UK Broadcaster would accept 10-15 Mbps at 4:2:2 …

Hope this helps try Adobe Media Encoder

    Adstream
    London, England

    Mac Pro – 8gig ram – FCS 3 – CS4 – Cinema 4D, Flip Factory, Rhozet, Episode

I think 15Mbps for SD delivery is really good data-rate.
That should yield similar quality than XDCAM HD 422 50Mbps.
