OK, Gilles, or anybody else . . . . . As the original thread had pushed me to do some extra work in the direction of attaining “better” MPEG2 Rolls/Scrolls was waaaaayyyy further on from the original Thread of CBR<>VBR, here’s what I did with NewBlue Titler Pro 2.0.

My main concern for you Gilles, is that somewhere in your Text > MPEG2 you’ve got a fundamental Pixel change<>Settings Overide<>Resize – but this is NOT in your favour. What I have done here, over 2 hours, is to layout for you to consider that this IS possible to produce, yes I am using NBT2, because I like the controls.

So, you have work to do to truly understand just where you have this mismatch. My thoughts? Produce the BEST Text Scroll in the PAR that you are going to use in your final DVD Render prep for DVDA, separately from your Video and then bring it in a s a DI (Digital Intermediate). Hence my invitation to you to use an uncomp’ed format – I might also suggest a MOV trannie-BG and bring that in. In any event, you’ve chosen to use a Font and Size that is pushing the very edge of what is possible and if your workflow isn’t accommodating for this choice, then all bets are off and you need to put in a more work and understanding to grasp this particular nettle. In essence, most of us just put our hands up, and say I’ll use something (font<>size) that works and move on. Gilles, I understand your wish for a simple “Button” to do what it is you want, your motives are plain and open – I get it. If anybody out there can suggest one – I’m all ears! Personally, I use the best<>affordable tool I can use to get in amongst my ideas: And to date, for me, NBTP2 is the Canine’s Appendages, and no mistake.

    OK, this is my workflow:-

A] Project Settings to produce the Scroll Only – This reflects the final outcome of producing a DVD in PAL-Land

    B] Inserted a NBT2 Event and created the Roll/Scroll

C] Rendered to my MPG2 DVD Video Stream I use for DVDA

D] I have played this in WMP and VLC and through DVDA. I haven’t burnt a DVD. I’m not going to!

I attach the ZIP of the MPEG2. When you play make sure you are playing at all the PAL-Land settings. The “slight” softness I could work on.

Here’s a still – remember this is a SCREENGRAB on a paused WMP player:-

Now the MPEG2, and remember this is AFTER Bessie here has re-coded my MPEG2:-

    NewBlue ProTitler 2.0 Scroll/Roll Text

Here’s the MediaInfo of that MPEG2 (DVDA compliant MPEG2):-

Hey! Thanks for putting so much time and effort in putting this together Graham!

I’m going to take a break from it now. I have another DVD to create in a week or so. I’ll revisit then and hopefully can make sense of it all and figure out how to crate good quality rollers like yours… without resorting to the limited Legacy text media generator.

    Once again, thanks so much.
    I’ll be back 🙂

You’re welcome. Actually I enjoyed doing it!

O…K… Notwithstanding your understandable need to get on with your business and the rest of your life, it’s more a point of just “where” “how” and “what” Vegas and your approach is introducing those nasty artefacts, that’s the crucial learning point. I’ve suggested that the failure is highlighting the very edge of the ability of the Text Generator AND the pixel settings that’s doing something.

I’ve also suggested that high-risk, motion graphics – here that would be Scrolling Text – would benefit from being rendered/prepared separately to the Main and one-shot MPEG DVDA preparation and that a separate DI would be advisable. Or….. trawl for a Plug that deals with Text prep better.

Maybe others would wish to add/chime into this?

    Cheers

    Grazie
