    Hi Guys.

I am reformatting the old G5, and am having problems getting quicktime back to being PRO + MPEG2 encoder and decoder.

Has anyone else had issues getting the MPEG2 module back…..???

In the FAQ on the Apple site, it states that with the MPEG2 playback component, you cannot encode MPEG2.

This is confusing because I clearly had an MPEG2 encode option via quicktime in FCP’s “export using quicktime conversion” dialog.

Also, I have no record of paying for MPEG2 component, which leads me to believe I was able to somehow download it for free.

Any insights would be welcome, as I find the Apple sites confusing…..

    Cheers

    Justin,

You haven’t mentioned what version of FCP you have, or whether you’ve reinstalled it, all you said is that you are “reformatting.” In any case, all of the features of QT Pro are installed along with FCP 5.

    Hi David.

    I have FCP 4.5HD

I had to repurchase QT pro when QT7 was released, and at the time it gave me the MPEG2 module also.

Now, when I reinstall FCP 4.5 and enter my repurchased QT key, it has no MPEG2 module..??

    Hope that makes sense.

    Cheers

    Justin

Yes, that makes sense. I think you’ll have to call Apple on this one.
