At this stage we are looking at both PC and MAC. My problem with MAC is that it has to go through extra compression to get it into the right format.
We were previously using Spruce but that has died a horrible death.
We need something of the same calibre to keep our quality up to spec.
We are a professional company so we do have a budget available. All the best

Thank you both for your input. As I’ve mentioned we’re looking for an encoder that has the same quality as Spruce. My head Engineer has looked at many encoders but there are so limitations like one is unable to hear the audio de-encode or the GOP structure is too big etc. Obviously we don’t want to have to compress the picture after the encode as this makes then takes up more time on a tight schedule.
All the best

may be right to capture uncompressed video via SDI and use CCE for multipass VBR encoding?
