Mpeg Streamclip Vs Compressor
MacPro with OSX 10.6.8
Software using is Compressor 3.5.3 & Mpeg Streamclip 1.9.2
Current codec h.264 .mov from Canon 600d
Desired codecProRes 422
For TV broadcastHi folks
Transcoding a lot of h.264’s from a 600d, to ProRes 422. Compressor seems to really struggle with the h.264’s, it becomes unresponsive and sluggish when trying to add a setting to just one clip let alone the 600 or so I need to batch convert.
So I’ve found that using batch convert in Mpeg streamclip is much more responsive and never crashes.
I am not doing any upscaling or anything just a straight transcode… do you think this is ok? I’ve heard Mpeg streamclip is not as good as compressor, but considering I am not actually upping the res or standards converting I am hoping this will be acceptable?
I can’t tell the difference but I am not an online editor.
Thanks
Tom
