Not really sure where to post this, but since my destination is FCP, here goes:

We do a weekly show that is recorded to DVD, and I occasionally need to rip footage off for various promo videos. Now, this wouldn’t be a big deal except I have dozens of discs to flip through. Everytime I go to rip one from MPEG Streamclip, I get asked to check the timecode breaks. Is there a problem on my DVD burner that causes these breaks? It takes a while to scan the disc for breaks, thus slowing my workflow. I have noticed that it doesn’t always do this on some DVDs…

We use the JVC something-or-another DVD burner with DV tape deck (sorry, dont have model handy). Is there something I can do to skip this timecode issue?

A timecode break on a DVD is not uncommon, and doesn’t necessarily indicate a problem. The reasons for them are not important to your question, but you should choose to fix them in MPEG Streamclip and do not skip frames.
