I have to convert an .mp4 file to edit in Final Cut 7.

ClipWrap won’t do it. I downloaded MPEG Streamclip from
the Softonic site but Yosemite won’t open it since
it was not purchased at the Apple App Store.

Is this the program I need and what is the best way to
    download and open it?

You can do it. There’s a preference check box somewhere in the App Store I think that will allow you to use stuff other than App Store offerings. I had to set that once, but then forgot about it. I use MPEG Streamclip all the time. You might also enjoy another free app called FLV Crunch.

    Awesome – thanks.

    What does FLV crunch do?

Similar to Streamclip, just as simple, and also free. I use it to make flash versions and windows media versions.
