  • MPEG loses audio when imported into FCP 4.1.1???

Posted by Phil on December 7, 2005 at 2:12 pm

    Hello,

I converted a Windows Media File into an MPEG on my PC. I transferred it to my Mac and it now plays in QuickTime.

However, when I import this mpeg into FCP 4.1.1, I lose the audio.

How can I import the entire file into FCP, video and audio.

I tried exporting it from QuickTime as a DV Stream and a QT movie and I still lost the audio in FCP.

    Any suggestions.
    Thanks.

you might want to try to export the file as a .avi from your PC, and then import the .avi into FCP. That should work. Good luck

Thanks, but how do I export it as an avi? Do I just change the extension?

I have very limited PC software.

I know Adobe Premier will allow you too and also Windows movie maker. Under save movie file, select where you want saved, hit next, then browse the diferent formats you would like. You will see one named DV avi. If I remember that should play back in FCP. Give that a try. Let me know, if not I’ll ask around at work. Good luck
