  • Mpeg in Premiere 6.0?

Posted by Lawrence Vaughan on March 5, 2007 at 7:43 am

    Hi,
I’m using Premiere 6.0 with Canopus EZDV capture hardware. I have some Mpegs (2 and 4) which I want to edit. Premiere cannot open them because they are sampled at a different rate. Is this a codec issue with premiere, or do I have to re-encode them? If so, where can I get one (which is ideally free).

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Lawrence

Premiere 6.x doesn’t like Mpegs period, convert them to DV AVI to edit there are plenty of mpeg to AVI apps floating around, just don’t use the ones that think AVI is DVIX, you will take a resolution hit, you could try a copy of Premiere Elements, it works with Mpegs better.

Excellent. Thanks for that. Strange that a cheaper version of premiere actually works with mpegs. grr!

The versions of Elements worked with Mpegs because of compatibility with consumer DVD type camcorders, the newer Version 2 of Premiere works with Mpegs alot better
