I’ve got a client who sent me 100 clips from his Sony Handycam DCR-SR47. All the clips are showing up as MPEG. I looked up this camera and it supposedly records in MPEG-2 format.

My question is: Can I edit the clips in Premier Pro, export an uncompressed version, and take it straight to Encore (since the files are already MPEG-2)?

If not, can I expect to lose a lot of quality if we try to go to a DVD?

    Thanks,

The short answer is NO. The source files are already highly compressed.

    You will loose SOME quality.
