mpeg files from Samsung camera?
I have an edit this friday and just found out the client’s client is bringing in footage shot on his Samsung HD camcorder (don’t know the model # yet) that records to SD cards in MPEG4.
does anybody know if the Avid will work with these files or if I need to do some sort of transcode first?
I’m on the client’s system and don’t know which version of the Avid it is. They’re waiting to install brand new ones (not soon enough for this).

Anything before Avid MC5 won’t work with the files natively, but can import and convert to DNxHD. Although in MC5 you should still convert.
