Mpeg encoder solutions
I can’t seem to get any help or advice on the Media Encoder on PP 1.0. Apparently this is not the first time users have encountered the problem. Is there a way around mpg’s when you want to burn onto DVD. Will an .avi file work the same way when you use DVD authoring programs? I need a way to get these videos onto DVD and the Encoder has been useless since I loaded the recommended updates. Any way around this problem? Thanks.

Most DVD authoring programs will accept a DV AVI file with no problem.

Thanks. Will Encore DVD burn the same way and be able to play the same way as an mpg? Any idea why this happened with the encoder. You must have seen these issues before.

Well, I moved to Premiere Pro 1.5 before I moved to WinXP SP2, so I had to download a fix from MainConcept. As you should if you have not yet done so. But Encore will transcode the AVI in the background while you create the menus, etc, so there should be no problem.

I read somewhere on the ‘cow’ that it’s better not to pre-transcode avi files before the burn. Someone said to let it transcode right before it burns to disc.
Speaking of transcoding… I’ve found that if I leave it set on ‘Automatic,’ the disc has a higher tendency to skip on my client’s players. I usually select the VBR two pass, max 7 rate for NTSC and it plays better. Any thoughts on that?
