Hi, does anyone know what version of MainConcept MPEG encoder Vegas 7 uses? Is there a way to update it or change the MPEG encoder? I’m just not too impressed with it’s quality for MPEG 2, I see a lots of jagged lines on object edges in my videos when watching them on my TV.

If I render the same clip (captured using Vegas from my Sony MiniDV) and put it through TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress with the same output settings, it’s very clean and crisp with no jagged edges on objects in the video. It looks much much better than the MainConcept output.

I’m just wondering if there is anything I can do to improve it’s quality in Vegas. I haven’t changed any of the MainConcept settings, other than bit rate and rendering quality.

    Thanks for any help.

Try setting to project settings to progressive and also render to progressive video. It sounds like your seeing the interlacing. Danny

Thanks, that did help a bit but it’s not a clean as I’d like it to be.
