    Hi,
I’ve used Encore to do encoding, and the final result looks great on DVD. I know have a series of segments cut in PP, that I’m exporting to MPEG 2 using media encoder. The shots look fine on the PC, but once I look at them on an NTSC monitor, I’m seeing really bad interlacing artifacts. I’ve tried using fields, and progressive, but can’t seem to get it to look good. The work around for now is to export an uncompressed movie, and then transcode in encore (this is a big extra rendering step). Has anyone run into this, and have a solution?
    Thanks,
    mike

Encore and Pro use the same encoder with the same settings. Check Encore’s and duplicate that in Pro. To see Encore’s settings; File>Transcode>Edit Project Transcode presets.

    Thanks Mike,
That’s what I thought. I’ll double check my setting (can’t do it till Monday), and see if there’s something different.

I think I figured it out..
I exported the encore settings and imported those in premiere. Same interlacing problems. I tried rendering upperfield instead of lower field in premiere. This seemed to solve the problem. There must be some type of mix up in the code when it comes to uf vs. lf with that particular setting?
