The PBS mpeg2 standard is still unsettled, so I am looking for recommendations for settings regarding mpeg-2 conversion using Compressor? The top quality rate of 40mbps results in the same size as exporting to quicktime movie “current settings” (5.8gig). I assume two pass VBR. Also, should the sound be aiff? The timeline is about 30 minutes of SD media. Thank you.

What are you going to do with the file? As far as I know they have not told us anything about the settings yet. We may know more after the PBS meetings before NAB in a couple of weeks.

If there’s no official specs, then you’re at the mercy of whatever the presenting station tells you to do. I would ask them what to do.

Okay, I will start with full quality (40 mbps) and see what the presenting station suggests.
