I’m running FCP 5.1.4 as part of Final Cut Studio and I want to be able to export an MPEG-2 file directly out of Final Cut without involving compressor. I see a lot of instructions for doing this, and they all say to go File -> Export -> Quicktime Movie, then choosing MPEG-2. However, when I go try to export a QT movie, MPEG-2 isn’t an option.

Is there a reason for this? Is there a way I can get this functionality, which it seems many people have?

I know I could use Compressor, and when I need more control I do, but I’d like to have the direct export.

    Thanks,

    Dustin

This is not an option any more. Before you had the chance to export MPG2 via QT if you had DVDSTPro or if you had purchased the “QT MPG2 Export Element” (20US$).
But I don’t think that they even sell this “QT MPG2 Export Element” any more.
