Activity Forums Compression Techniques MPEG-1 question

A client has requested an MPEG-1 of the project I created for use in PowerPoint. The project was originally shot in HDV and I just don’t want the final MPEG-1 file squeezed to 4×3. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Probably what I’ll end up doing, but I was curious if there was any software that could help me get there once the QT file was exported out of FCP.

There’s nothing to stop you encoding to 16:9 MPEG-1 as long as your encoding application supports non-standard resolutions (like cleaner). The problems will be with playing it back.

The real question is why is your client requesting MPEG-1, it’s so ancient and so inefficient.

MPEG-4 would be a much better option all round.
