    Hi all!

I’m new to the forums and trying to encode an MPEG-1 @ 640×480 using Final Cut Pro & Compressor. However, the geometry fields in Compressor’s MPEG-1 inspector are grayed-out and I can’t customize any pixel dimensions greater than 320×240. Does anyone know anything about this? Or better… can anyone recommend or share with me what applications they’re using to generate video files at these specs?

    Thanks in advance!

Compressor is very limited for MPEG-1 encoding and is not ideal to use.

Personally, for MPEG-1, I really like Compression Master 4. MainConcept also has a good encoder.

This is the best MPEG 1 encoder for the Mac. Integrates with FCP nicely.
