  • [MP6] Compose using MXF DNxHD – AAF export with original footage links

    Hi,

I would like to compose in MP6 like I’m used to (after it recompresses my footage to DNxHD MXFs).
After I finish, I would like to export the timeline to AAF file with the original footage links, so when I’ll import it into AE (using Automatic Duck) – I’ll continue working on the original files and not the re-encoded DNxHD files.
The main purpose of this is to avoid recompression, and even the ability to work in 36Mbps workflow and continue in AE with original video.

Is there a way to do it?

    Thank you in advance,
    Mark.

    Yes.

Link via AMA to your source media.
    Transcode to DNxHD.
Edit your sequence from transcoded clips.
Then select all the original AMA clips.
Right click to on your sequence and choose relink – select the option that reads “Relink to selected items in open bins”
A new sequence will be crteated that points to orginal footage.
Export AAF set to “link to current media” and make sure that the enable AAF Protocol button is ticked.
