I’m using 64-bit Vegas on a 64-bit machine. I installed the 64-bit K-lite Codec Pack (after installing the basic 32-bit pack, as recommended on free-codecs.com). So why won’t Vegas save markers and regions to MP4s annotated in the Trimmer? Markup is saved to AVIs, WMVs and MP3s. Why not MP4s? I know AVIs are containers, not [codecs], but AVIs that use MP4 as the video’s [codec] work. If those work, why don’t plain MP4s?
I just did a fresh install of everything (I restored my computer to its original factory state, then installed software), so it’s not a glitch due to [old age].
    Help? Thanks.

There have been many posts warning that codec packs should NEVER be installed. K-Lite is mentioned frequently. If things are not working after installing a codec pack, you should not be asking why Vegas does not perform a function.

I’m guessing it’s because you’ve replaced the superior MP4 encoder that you paid for from Sony with a cheap free substitute that came with the K-Lite codec pack. I would uninstall the codec pack and re-install Vegas and see if it fixes things. Never install a codec pak on a video editing workstation; it will only cause trouble.
