MP4 won’t be imported into FinalCut, MPEGstreamclip, or Compressor
I got the material to edit. All the video files are MP4. Final cut pro 7 won’t take it, MPEG stream clip 1.9.2 won’t take it to convert it, Converter also doesn’t take. Quicktime doesnt play it as well. Only VLC player plays it normally.
Material is 1080, 25fps.
This is how it looks in the finder. One mp4 video file and many additional files. Can some experts help here? Deadline is approaching.

Hi Rihards,
Don’t touch that file/folders structure or you may get in real troubles.
Read a bit instead of messing up.
Google “Final Cut 7 Professional Formats & Workflows” (pdf).
Have a look to Shane Ross’s “Tapeless workflow” tutorial.
Then download the SONY Clip Browser & Transfer software to preview and make those files editable.

You may want to check out a program called ClipWrap. It can transcode a lot of formats that QT doesn’t like. You would want to transcode them to ProRes most likely.
If you have Adobe apps and have a new version you can see if you can convert them in Media Encoder.

What you have there are XDCAM EX files. Download ‘Sony Log & Transfer Plugin” and then use Log & Transfer to import them into FCP.
I’d also second what Rafael says – don’t rename, move or change ANY of those files otherwise you’re in trouble without spending some money!
