    Hello,

My department currently runs Vegas 9b on 11 different HP machines. For various reasons, we have settled on 9b for the time being and it works well for us. Creating .mp4s for iPod is a huge part of our workflow.

I just installed the trial for Vegas 9b on a new HP Z800 we are testing. It has issues rendering the MainConcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4) iPod 640×480 template. Most times, the render reaches 100%, but the file never completes, the render dialog box stays up and the ‘Elapsed Time’ just keeps counting away.

Other, less frequent times, the file will complete, but upon importing that newly rendered file into Vegas, Vegas crashes.

Does anyone have a lead on this? Also, can anyone provide me with a link to the instructions to do a full uninstall of Sony Vegas? I know Sony has it somewhere and I can’t find it. I remember it being a very detailed process, but this is going to be my next step unless someone has an answer.

I can only tell you what Sony (and any software company) will tell you. Update your software to 9.0e and see if the problem persists. You might be dealing with a problem that’s already been fixed. Just upgrade the new PC and see if it works.

Yup, I know that’s exactly what Sony would say. My hopes were to have the old machines and the new machines running the same version.

I did, in fact, upgrade to E on that new machine and it fixed the problem. Luckily, the issues I had with E on the old machines are not present in this new one. So that’s progress.

That also says that the new machine and the old machines are not the same which says that you don’t have a repeatable process for building them if they are truly supposed to be clones. I would try and figure out what went right with the new machine and get the old ones to behave the same way.
