  • mp4 HTML5 dynamic range conversion issue w/ nVidia/Windows

I’m compressing a set of videos for an HTML5 site. They look fine on my Mac w/ AMD GPU, but on my PC w/ nVidia card the mp4 files aren’t mapping correctly. The mp4s look fine in Windows Media Player, but when opened directly in a browser, they are washed out. The webm and ogv versions of the same video play fine in the Windows browsers. Also, I can get the videos to play correctly if I force the nVidia settings to use full dynamic range (0-255). But I can’t expect all of the end users to adjust their default settings.

Does anyone know of a way to either encode the mp4s w/ altered metadata to display correctly in a Windows browser, or alternatively an HTML5 or js script to force the video to map correctly the way the webm and ogv files do?
