January 15, 2011 at 4:48 pmThey call me the psychic editor. I know the cuts before even the director does….
Seriously though, this is the identical problem we encountered with a doc. The director had copied the files over, but not in the same structure – XDCam is VERY precise about this. For future ref, you’ll see that the top of the directory tree has a ‘BPAV’ folder. Now people logically think ‘it’s no good copying this, else I’ll overwrite the file with the next card’ – but what you need to do is make a folder manually for the card (call it ‘ShootXCardX’ or however you want to identify it) and then copy the entire card folder structure in to this.
Without the BPAV file and everything that’s in it, neither FCP using Log & Transfer, or the Sony XDCam Transfer tool, will work. All the media is there, but not the directory structure necessary to see it.
So use the Calibrated plugin, and follow the tutorial on their site and you’ll be good to go.
Next up, tomorrows winning lottery numbers.
