My Sony EX3 camera shoots MP4 files. So does my GoPro.
However, windows explorer will not give me thumbnails from the EX3 but lets me view the files from the GoPro.
I’d like to be able to view the files or at least a thumbnail in explorer or some other viewing program so I can see what I have before I put it on the timeline. I know I can view them through Vegas explorer but I can’t do a batch rename in Vegas which is mainly what I want to accomplish.

What version of Windows you use?
By the way, yes, you can actually use Vegas Explorer
to do batch renaming of your files contained in a folder.

    Hi Steve,
Using Windows 7. How can you do a batch rename in Vegas?
    That would be good.

MP4 is a generic container. It can contain anything.

GoPro files are AVC video. It appears your EX3 files contain MPEG-2. Maybe the Windows thumbnailer only works when AVC is inside an MP4.
