Anyone ever had this problem? I’m trying to export a h264 mp4 from Premiere. When finished I review the export and it stops and freezes. Let’s say it’s a 30 sec spot, at about 25 seconds it just stops. I can export quicktimes, wav files, just not not h264s. Thanks for any help.

It does the same thing in Media Encoder.

This has happened to me. Often it’s a result of a damaged file at that point or some probleme with it.

One solution is to mark that spot in/out then render and make sure it’s green. When you export, click “Use Previews”.

If that doesn’t work, try re-importing the clip, or open the clip in a new sequence, render that and re-import.

Or import the Quicktime and export that as H264.

Finally, if you’re using NVIDIA GPU acceleration, change to software only.

Sometimes you just have to try different settings.

This is consistent with AE/PPr 2021 using AME 2021 (OSX)

Drives me nuts. I have to render to ProRes then use AME to export for web/sm delivery.

I have bigger projects that avoid this but I keep them on AE/PPr 2020 using AME 2020.

On my MP 2019 I have both 2020/2021 so I can finish things.
To prove this is consistent, I have two other MP 2013s running diff OS that have the same issues.

Until I see this working smoothly in 2021 alone, I will not be removing 2020.

You don’t mention if you are on Mac or PC. But I’ve had that issue on my home PC. Usually just got to Project Settings / General, and set to Software only renderer as had been suggested. Let us know if that works or not.

I’ve had similar issues. I got around it by marking in and out on the start and finish of the piece, then rendering the whole thing from in to out, and making sure the “use maximum render quality” box is NOT checked in export settings. Then select “Sequence In/Out” in the Source Range drop down at the bottom of the export window. I export mostly h.264 mp4 for social media platforms. Hope this helps.
