    Hi,

I have a green screen character walking in front of a still background and I’m trying to make it look like the background gets further away as she walks. She is shot from the waist up so I have to keep her in the foreground. Any one have any ideas on how to make this work? Should I just scale the background down throughout the clip or is there a more believable way?

Seem like you need at least two things to make this believable.

    1. A change in depth of field as you character keeps moving away from the background.

    2. Stuff passing by in the background as you truck with you actor (depth of field will change on these objects as well as they move into the background.

Thanks! Both of those suggestions are great!
Would the depth of field effect be easiest to achieve by using an AE camera?

Also, how would you go about moving the objects that the character is passing through the background? I have some trees that I can set in there but I’m not sure how to attach them to the scene or to the ground. It seems that when you simply scale and position things to get further and further away they look like they are floating through the screen. Is there a better way you can suggest?

    Thanks again!!

She is walking in place so there is movement on her part. Do you think I also need to create some up and down movement in the background?

    Thanks!!
