we are having to move our project to a new computer at at different location and I want to make sure that all of my files are not offline when I start at the new location… I have received a project before and all of the files were offline and i don’t want to have to reconnect media again because it was a nightmare. Ideally I would like to just bring my drives with media and project to the new location but I was told i might need to do media manager beforehand. Please advise if anyone has suggestions.

Yes, the only way to insure all file are online is to use the “copy” project function in Media Manager. Unfortunately is will copy all media files to a single directory, thus possibly ruining any other type of organization you had created, but that is a small price to pay. Read the manual and follow it to the letter. Since you’re copying, not moving, its completely non-destructive, so don’t sweat it, you can try a second time if it doesn’t go right.
