I have some footage arranged in one project, that I would like to put in the beginning of another project. What is the best way to do this. Would it be best to render project B, close, open project A, and insert the mpeg at the beginning of project A? Then I would be re-rendering the beginning or project A, when I am finished with it.

Why not just drag the VEG file to the beginning of the other project? With nested VEG files, no rendering is needed ahead of time. Plus, if you DO render, MPEG2 is NOT the format you should use.

Didn’t know that you could do that. What do you do, drag the veg file from a pulled up directory that it is in, to an open timeline already on the screen? And what did you mean that mpgeg is not what you want to render it to?

Yes, you can drag a VEG file to the timeline just like any other media file.

If you’re rendering to a file you know you’ll be adding to another timeline and be rendering again, you definitely don’t want to go to a highly compressed format like MPEG2 because every frame would have to be decompressed and then recompresed when you do the final render.

    Hi Ed,
I did the drag & drop, but the audio track of project A does not move with video. I have ripple on and still doesn’t move. The file I am dropping at the beginning of the timeline is video only, could that be the reason that the audio already on timeline isn’t moving?

It might depend on which ripple mode is turned on. Make sure it’s set to “All Tracks”
