  • Moving points on multiple meshes at once with magnet tool

I work a lot on medical models where things get fairly intricate. If I need to modify the shape of a cross section of a human body, I would want to move points on every layer within the body at once to keep consistent change and proportion but when I use the magnet tool, only the mesh on which I grab a point range will be affected…I have all the meshes selected and then select all their points but still, only one mesh at a time currently works – is there a setting I’m missing or can I not use the magnet tool on more than one mesh at a time?

    Thanks!

That seems to be a limitation. You could connect the objects, edit them with the magnet tool, and then run the “explode” segments command to separate them again, but that might mess up your material assignments.

As an aside, a little-known fact: you can actually use the magnet tool in model mode (no need to be in points/edges/face mode), which is nice if you don’t want the mesh highlighting to obscure the surface (turn off Sel.: Wireframe in viewport display prefs.).

Thanks for the answer and advice, Adam. I may have to connect them to see how that goes.

Chalk this request up for future versions!

    Cheers!
