I’ve got a variation on this question on the Color forum as well, but this one seems to get more traffic and it really is an FCP question.

I know there’s a simple way to do this. I’m sure it’s with Media Manager, but nothing I’ve read tells me how.

I’ve got the bulk of my media on a single drive -let’s call this drive Tiny. I’ve got some stuff -largely Color renders, but possibly some other things- on other drives. Everything is happily connected to the sequences; nothing is offline. I want to move any media that’s not on Tiny to Tiny, but not duplicate any of the media it already holds (There’s not enough room on Tiny and why would I want the duplicate files anyway?)

So, can FCP find all the relevant media for a sequence (or project) and copy only that media which is not already on the destination drive and keep everything connected to the original sequence? If so, how? I especially care because Color files each go in their own folder and reconnecting would take forever.

I would happily read a White Paper on this if someone would like to point me. Everything I’ve read about Media Manager makes it seem like I can only copy everything including the stuff that’s already on my destination drive. That ain’t right.
