I’m using Sony Vegas 8 Platinum and didn’t have this problem when I used Vegas 6. Let’s say I put three still pictures on the timeline, with three seconds of space between each one. If I try to adjust the placement of the first picture the other two move with it. If I adjust the placement of the middle picture, the last moves with it. Everything downstream moves the same amount. In projects when I go back and try to make minor adjustments, it messes up the timing/placement of ALL items that are later on the timeline. Samething happens on the aduio line. How do I separate all of them so I can move one item on the line and NOT have it move the others with it?
    Thanks, Bruce

Vegas Pro has an “Auto Ripple” feature and I believe that your version does as well.
Find out where it is (it’s a tool bar icon in Vegas Pro), disable it and things will start behaving normally.

Perfect! There’s an icon on the top tool bar and it does exactly what you said/exactly what I need it to do. As always, you guys are the best! Thanks for your help.
