I want to be able to grab a clip, say a small picture that I’ve overlaid onto my video, and move it to the upper right corner. In FCP, I used to just click on the clip in the PROGRAM window and drag it to my desired location. I can’t seem to figure out how to do that in PP. I have been going into the effects control tab and adjusting the x y coordinates. There must be a quicker way.

Double click the footage in the Program Monitor. You can scale and reposition it then.

Also, in the Effects Control panel, you can click on the word “Motion,” then the wireframe can be scaled or repositioned.

I have a question. I seem to have some keyframes that are causing wild things to happen in my Program window, but it is completely non-obvious how to control those keyframes in my Effects Control window. It’s as if there are two kinds of keyframes that both operate on my clip, but I can only control one of them. The other has some random values that are screwing me up, and I cannot figure out how to get rid of them (without deleting the 100+ keyframes I spent all day entering).

Some motion attributes (like position) have two key frame interpolation attributes; Temporal (time) and Spatial (space). Right click on your keyframes and confirm that both attributes are set to linear (as opposed the default auto-bezier.)

I have found when auto-bezier is turned on my motion/speed ramps up and down making my video become unpredictable. Changing to linear rectifies the problem. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a way to change the interpolation defaults.
