Hi i am having problems with moving multiple clips in the timeline. In FCP i use the “select everything to the right” tool and then move the clips right or left but in AVID all i seem to be able to do is use the marquee which is time consuming and tricky as i’m dealing with 18min reels. Is their an AVID equivalent or a better way to select all the clips to the right of my CTI or cursor.
    cheers

there’s no direct equivelant, either zoom down the time line and lasoo everything and then drag, or if you’r at a butt join, just splice in a bit of filler, or whatever’s in your source monitor but with the tracks deselected. If you need to move it by a specific amount then just pop in a frame of filler hit trim/source and type in the duration of the gap you’re trying to create, sounds cumbersome, but if you know your keyboard you’ll have done it before you can say final cut pro!

Make sure your mouse is in the area ABOVE the timeline, but within the timeline window. Hold down the option key (I believe – I’m not in front of the Avid right now) and drag the marquee around your clips. One of the modifier keys puts you in trim, while another performs the action you are seeking. Now that I think about it, you might need the overwrite mode button on. Adjust the size of the timeline to see all your clips (Cntrl/Cmnd ] or [). Keep in mind if you have any black within your selection (even 1 frame) you’ll need to have that selected….
