Moving files between platforms
I’m working on a (to me) big, long animation project at work with R11 on a Mac Pro. I’d like to take it home to work on over the weekend to my PC also running R11. I do know that you can open the same file on both platforms. Thing is, I have a collection of, I don’t know A LOT, of these panels, each with its own photo texture or video texture. And there are a lot of video textures. (Here’s an early version online now with only 10% of the video I actually have in the project now https://www.brevitymedia.com .
With all of these video textures it would take a really long time to save to my portable drive to take home. I was wondering if I could just take the C4D files and my audio files and leave the textures at work. Would C4D complain about not having the textures? I could try it and see of course, but my main concern is, if I add a bunch of animation to the file over the weekend and bring it back here to work on Monday, will the textures automatically link up again? Would I have to do something like “relink media” or something? Am I asking for trouble?
