July 23, 2023 at 2:12 amThis is either from some asset pack or a basic animation made in After Effects. Vegas Pro isn’t really built for such motion graphics, would be very hard to recreate this specific asset.
I suggest you search for something like “motion graphics border frame video asset”. Though I’d say it’s unlikely you’ll find something just like this as this example is super basic. Or in other words – I don’t see why someone would share this as a standalone asset, more likely made specifically for this project.
If you manage to find an animated frame asset you like – in Vegas Pro you’ll have to add a Clock Wipe transition on top if you want to match your example.
If you were to recreate this in After Effects you’d have to create a rectangle, remove its fill, enable stroke, add dashes and animate their offset. Do some customization and that’s it. Except in After Effects you’d add a “Radial Wipe” effect on top – same transition, different name.

July 28, 2023 at 8:20 amHi, Just noticed this and I thought I would have a play in Vegas ,, Can be done but not quite as good but only spent 10 minutes putting it together so could easily be improved with different shapes, colour, etc .

July 28, 2023 at 1:55 pmThis isn’t too far off, but the main thing that this lacks is continuity between the axis. As in it’s pretty clear that it’s not a continuous dashed border.
Could be improved with extra masking, but would be hard to get the timings and spacing right for all the corners to transform smoothly (where a vertical dash “transforms” into a horizontal one).

July 29, 2023 at 11:50 pmDefinitely closer!
If you’re going for perfection I’d say that this is missing rounded corners, the timing’s a bit off on the right border and the left border is slightly shifting horizontally over time.
But yeah, no doubt closer. Curious how long this took in total hahah, because in something like After Effects this would be less than a minute

August 1, 2023 at 4:18 pmHi, yep, have moved the line to correct position from drifting. I don’t see any rounded edges on the original video you posted. Only spent a few minutes on it as busy with other projects but always like to challenge myself 🙂 Have corrected the timing. Once I worked out the Maths if become clearer….

August 1, 2023 at 11:42 pmOh, you’re totally right. Guess I imagined those – with the rounded dashes that would’ve made a bit more sense to me.
Cool challenge, shame that there’s not a more efficient workflow to make motion graphics in vegas pro. Typically ends up being a more tedious process for a less flexible result.

August 2, 2023 at 7:39 amHI, like all things with editing and when you need something a bit out the normal then somewhere on planet earth there will be an expensive Plugin…
Anyway, did not take long but lots of things can be done in Vegas. The more you try the more things you can do and I enjoy doing it.
Green screen attached
It was a fun challenge

John
