  • moving clips from timeline to project for later use

I’m using PPro2. I often want to prepare a clip for later use, possibly a number of interview clips to be cut into action sequences. I cut the rough clips in the Source window from the master tape held in Project, drop these clips onto a Sequence in the Timeline, trim them up, maybe removing breaths, er’s & um’s, adjust volume and eq, etc, then want to drop them into a bin in the Project window ready for later use as I build up the action sequence. But I can’t figure out how to do this last thing, or if it is at all possible. That is, how can I drop clips that have been changed in the timeline back into a Project bin?

It seems like a very normal and obvious thing to want to do, so is there a way? If not, what can anyone recommend as a workaround?

    Many thanks,

    Bill

You would have to export each clip, since these are no longer the original files, meaning they would have to be rendered anyway.

CS$ makes that task simpler using batch encoding through AME.

Most of us us use subclips, but that would be for single in and out cuts.

Thinking about this a bit more, I guess what I am looking for is ‘Render & Replace’ for video. Why is it only available for audio?

This is a feature I really miss from my DPS Velocity and I have been wondering the same thing,, from my Velocity I just press f to a edited clip and will send it to your bin in many ways same clip.
In premiere what I am doing is to copy -paste to an aditional Secuence, I call Stuff, to use it later.
    I hope works, Diego

Hi Diego, Yes I do something similar, adding bits and pieces to a different sequence for later use. But why doesn’t PPro have a better way? Why not Video Render & Replace? Anyone from Adobe like to comment?
    Cheers, Bill
