    Hello,

I am trying to do something (what I thought is very simple) but I’m having troubles doing so.
I am trying to back up my captured footage to an external hard drive and when I try an error window pops up and says:

Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred.
    (Error code 0)

I managed to copy other files from the same computer to this hard drive and it worked fine. So I don’t think it’s a formating issue.

I googled the error message and could find anything?

    Can You Help?

    Thank You

Did you have any programs running when you attempted to transfer? If so, which ones?

No because it was right after I started up the computer. I’ll double check though, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t have anything running.

    Thanks,

If no programs were running then it sounds like it might have been something like a directory error on the drive where your media files are located, or your target drive, or both. This is just a guess, since I can’t look over your shoulder. If you don’t practice periodic maintenance you could start by using Apple’s disk Utility to make sure your hard drives are in proper operating order. Repair permissions on your startup drive and check that the directories on the rest of your drives are good. If Disk Utility find a directory problem but can’t repair it then you need the program DiskWarrior to rebuild the directory. This is all part of a preventive maintenance plan that should be done periodically even if there’s nothing wrong.
