    Hi,

We just got this new Mac Pro Dual 3.2 Quadcore Xeon yesterday, and I am in the process of transferring the Avid over to it.

My biggest concern is the Adrenaline hardware and updating it’s firmware. I think I read something somewhere about a big difference when jumping from MC 2.7 to 3.0 in terms of a firewire bus change?

The latest Mac Cheat Sheet from Avid mentions something about this too when upgrading adrenaline’s from Mac only.

Do I need to update firmware on the PC first before bringing it over to the Mac? Any other issues I may run into?

Also, I plan to install an ATTO UL5D SCSI card in slot 3 and an AJA Kona LHe card in slot 4 (we will eventually run FCP off a second bootable drive). Does this sound OK?

    Thanks!

    Craig

Well, answering first part of my own post:

I went ahead and winged it, an it worked with no problems. No dongle upgrades, no firmware updates.

I think because I was going from MC 3.1.1 on PC to MC 3.1.1 on Mac.

As the Mac addicts always say, “It just works.” (I know this has nothing to do with Mac and more to do with Avid, surprisingly, but it’s still fun to say).
