i have a project that my editor needs to let go. She is cutting on AVID. I am going to take over in FCP. Can that happen? If so, what is the step by step process to get the project out of AVID and into FCP maintaining all the work from the first editor?

    Thanks,
    Lije

Yes. But it won’t be free.

https://www.automaticduck.com Look at PRO IMPORT FCP. There will be a tutorial video there. This software isn’t cheap, but it does it. And by that, I mean it will bring over the SEQUENCE and make reference QT movies for the media in that sequence. Not the entire project. To get the entire project, all the media and the bin structure…takes a LOT of work. A whole lot.

If you think you can finish in 30 days, download the Avid Media Composer demo…it is fully functional for 30 days. If not, be prepared to spend some money, and a LOT of time converting everything over.

Or buy the Avid software and be an editor that does both…

GETTING ORGANIZED WITH FINAL CUT PRO DVD…don’t miss it.
