[Steven Meyers] “Can anyone tell me if release 13 enhances the image stabilization feature so it no longer does the ‘zoom/crop’ thing when used”
That would be impossible to do. Image stabilization moves the frame to keep an object stabilized. Since there is no media beyond the edge of the frame, it MUST zoom in order to not show the black edges of the frame. All stabilization zooms because of this.
[Steven Meyers] “…and can anyone tell me if there are new features in release 13 that would be worth the upgrade to a fairly basic user such as myself?”
One of the big features is the addition of support for the VASST FasstApps. These are productivity tools that we created for Sony that really speed up editing and in some cases take the guesswork out so that basic users can get professional results.
Movie Studio 13 also has OFX support which opens up a whole new world of video FX that you can now purchase that aren’t available on Movie Studio 11. This was added to 12.
I would download the trial and check out the changes to the user interface. It’s quite a bit different that what you may be use to.
