I can’t think of a tutorial for this. But to create this effect you first need to find the exact frame you want your family member to freeze on. Then export just that frame from your video editing app or after effects. Remember that frame number because you will need to come back to it.

Next cut out your family member from the image using photoshop or any other image editor and save that cutout with the transparency. Use a image format that supports an alpha channel such as .png.

Now in after effects put that exported frame image on a layer above the movie clip. Then bring that cutout image into after effects and put in on the layer just above the frame still image. Have both those image layers start at that frame you exported from.

Now you can have whatever background you want to appear behind just your family member by putting it between the export frame image and the cutout image. To the viewer it will appear like the background disappeared as the title background appeared while leaving your family member.

For a nice effect try panning the cutout image a little over the new background or make them 3D and pan a camera over it.

    Hope this helps.
