The effect in the sequence where the faces freeze and turn into cartoons and the name comes up

mask out the charcter throw a background behind it . add text
. save as a picture file . freeze frame on video throw in picture for a few frames , pan in . then unfreeze video . could do it some other ways as well..

The only thing I might add to lifetype’s post is the “cartoon” effect is really only a desaturated captured picture from the video that can be easily created in Photoshop with an adjustment layer (or, you could do it in an editing program.

In fact, this effect would be much simplier to do in a good editing program rather than AE.
