Movie attachment
Posted by James Willis on March 3, 2009 at 2:25 pmCan you explain how to attach a video file to a plate that is on the satellite. When the satellite moves and rotates, the movie goes with it. I am not sure exactly what to do here.Thank again

March 3, 2009 at 4:05 pmit does seem a bit vague… i think he has a flat rectangular plate on a 3d object, the 3d object is rotating and he wants to fix a layer to the plate as the object rotates… maybe like a video screen fixed on the satellite as it orbits the earth….
if this is the case, you’ll want to use the corner pin effect on the footage layer to ‘pin’ it to the plate on the satellite. you can try this by manually keyframing the corner pins as the plate moves, or you can try motion tracking…
motion tracking will get a bit tricky. you’ll need to track each of the four corners of the plate, apply the tracking data to 4 separate null layer, then attach the corner pin effect points to the nulls with expressions. the main thing to consider here, is how good are the corners of the plate to track… you’ll need to have 4 good points to get 4 good tracks to get this method to work well, and you’ll still be making some manual keyframe adjustments along the way.

March 3, 2009 at 7:30 pmSorry for the confusion. My engineered explains it, There are 2 video clips. The first movie has the image flying over the earth. As the image starts to turn, a door open showing an larger image of the earth. This is the second movie that is on the plate. So when the image move or rotate, the second movie stays with the first movie
