I have a sequence which i have bought into a new sequence. i have them edited this, so know points in time are different.

What i want to do is to be able to find the frame i want in the new sequence then double click on the nested sequence and for it to open on that frame. at the moment the playhead stays where it was when i left the nested sequence. i want the playhead to sync between these two sequences,

please don’t tell me you can’t do this.

    cheers!

    OK I won’t tell, but unfortunately you’re really can’t.

    All the best,

what is it you ultimately want to do?

if you just want to get to that frame, turn on your TC overlays in the second timeline,
    read the TC,
double click on the nest to pop it open,
and type the TC into the TC field, top right of timeline.

if you want to isolate the sections you have edited,
drag the nest-section from the timeline into hte viewer
apple u to make a sup clip (yes of the nested seq!)
that “sub-nest” will appear in the browser.
open it top get just the section of teh original timeline contained in the nest-section

not elegant, but it can get you out of trouble

thanks, the timecode answer is the one most useful.

i can’t believe you can’t do that. final cut is making after fx look like it’s fully featured. which is a feat in itself!
